Easter Hares are here!

With Easter nearly upon us and spring just around the corner I'm celebrating with this cheerful lively bunting. The botanical drawings are exquisite. A perfect way of bringing flowers into our homes while our gardens catch up.
They will be available to buy from The Willow Tree Gallery, Holmfirth and my Etsy shop (Bettylovespaper) in the next few days.

I purchased these lovely books from my local Oxfam bookshop here in Holmfirth. They are full of beautiful illustrations, perfect for bunting in spring.

Betty Loves Paper at The Willow Tree Gallery Holmfirth.

I've posted here some images I took this morning (between the showers!) of my current decorations that the lovely ladies at The Willow Tree Gallery are using in their window.  If you don't already know Willow Tree is a small independent gallery in the centre of Holmfirth in West Yorkshire.  As well as selling paintings, prints and sculpture, Carrie is an experience picture framer.

Brightly coloured Heart Garlands

Today I've cut and sewn together some more Heart Garlands. This time They're from The Topper Annual, 1990 edition.  The colours are fab, not subtle at all, but bright and cheeky. As are the story lines! I think they are great fun, perfect for sharing with the one you love :-) x

Heart Garlands now available in Etsy Shop

I've now added my Vintage Paper Heart Garlands to my Etsy shop, Bettylovespaper.  There are five hearts per length of ribbon and I've included two lengths in each packet.

They are perfect as a gift or decorating your own home for that Valentines tea.  They look great as a single strand or a whole bunch.  I made 30 lengths twice this size to decorate a marquee for a wedding. Each string has nine birds on a 2m length of embroidery thread. I'm selling them for £12.50 each.

Hip Hip for Betty Loves Paper Etsy shop!

Fun with Instagram

I've discovered Instagram. A way of giving your photos that retro look.

As a demo I've used a photo of Deb's (from Willow Tree Gallery) birthday cake complete with mini birthday cake bunting and rice flowers.

Garden Bird Bunting

I'd like to share my first batch of Garden Bird Bunting. I've cut these from The School Girls Own Annual,1939. They are mostly text with black and white illustrations. The paper is thick and a pleasure to cut. It's also beautifully discoloured round it's edges.

I particularly like the piece on page 34, The Path to Prettiness, which discusses the importance of walking "nicely and rhythmically".

Prototype bird bunting

I've spent today experimenting with making Bird Bunting. The templates are based on images found in my bird book. I think I'm going to call them Garden Bird Bunting. For this string I've used some sheet music I picked up in my local Oxfam book shop in Holmfirth. I love the colour in the cover image.

My first order has come in already from Willow Tree Gallery!

It's a such a happy day when I've snipped and strung and got my first order in.

Building up bunting stock

I've spent the first few days of 2013 building up packaged star bunting to restock Willow Tree Gallery and stock my soon to open bettylovespaper Etsy shop.

I've used three Annuals, The Topper, Mandy for Girls and The Dandy. Each has different quality paper with different tones and colours in the print. For example The Topper uses bright and vibrant colour with a shine to the finish. My favourite though is Mandy with its more muted tones.
